Art / Inspiration / Things I make

Writer Maurice Sendak, most famous for his book “Where the Wild Things Are” (fantastically adapted for film by the great Spike Jonze in 2009) has passed away today, May 8th 2012.

Sendak’s books, while illustrated and meant for a younger audience, were tremendously deep and moving for people of all ages and made us all look at life from a new perspective. They did not tell us fantastical tales of magic and wonder, but about the special things we all have inside of us and in the world around us.

His other works include “The Nutshell Library”, “In The Night Kitchen”, “Seven Little Monsters” (which has its own TV adaptation) and a TV cartoon by the name of “Little Bear / Little Bear’s Adventures”.

I leave you with the trailer of Spike Jonze’s film adaptation of “Where The Wild Things Are”. If you haven’t seen this movie, make some time in your busy schedule to do so. It will change you.
