I know this is supposed to be a professional blog and all but I thought I would share with you my most recent and most amazing experience to date.
During the month of September, I interned for a magazine in Portugal called “Fora de Série”. It’s a luxury lifestyle and trends supplement for the Portuguese equivalent of the Financial Times – it’s basically our national “How To Spend It”. I thought I would be getting coffees and making copies all the time, but I ended up actually interviewing people, attending photoshoots and writing texts for the October issue of the magazine itself, as well as the magazine blog.
It was an amazing experience and I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. Also, everyone in the editorial office was amazingly nice and not only did I have a great professional experience, I had a wonderful time with these people who made me laugh every single day from morning to night.
My father arrived in Rome today, as I’ve returned here to continue my studies, and brought with him the October issue which went on sale yesterday. I haven’t scanned it because the magazine is in an A3 format, which makes it absolutely gorgeous (especially the photoshoot), but unfortunately does not fit on my scanner. I did take some really bad iPhone photos just to show you what my name looks like in print.
Maybe this is the first push, the kickstarter that I needed. Here’s to, maybe, a successful career in the industry and more opportunities to come.
