So I had a massive introduction written for this post which got completely erased when I tried to insert the pictures (thank you WordPress). Now I’m a bit out of patience so I’ll keep it short. Back in May 2014, Gabriele and I did our first little trip together to Prague. It was cold, we had to buy coats at Zara. We ate hotdogs in the street, I got drunk at a place called “Zombie Bar” […]
Hello world, long time no see! I’ve been busy trying to find something to do with this horrid BA – Masters hiatus, so I ended up forgetting the little things that make me happy: long walks, architecture, photography and this blog. I just noticed I never posted the pictures I took when the man of my life came to spend a week in my hometown. We had a lot of fun and I made sure […]
When visiting a fairytale setting, your 35mm camera is your best friend. The instant perfection of digital imaging fails to capture the gritty, surreal beauty of the Ponte Vecchio, or the drug-like oneiric atmosphere of the Giardino di Boboli. Wherever you are, it’s three steps away from where you want to go, and exactly where you want to be. Firenze feels like a bubble, Alice’s landing place after falling down the rabbit hole, a preserved […]
Endless back-and-forth flights, crossing borders both territorial and spiritual, this was one of the trips I had wanted to do since I was a child. I could write pages and pages about these places and I still would not be able to do them justice. It is an experience at its purest level, to be transported from a world of western commodities into what, for us, seemed like a parallel universe, made of layers upon […]
One of the most delightful feelings in the world is picking up photos from a roll of film you’d forgotten, and realizing it’s a lot older than you thought. Somehow, 36 pictures were enough for Malaysia, Mallorca, Vietnam and Cambodia. A few of these have instantly become some of my all-time favourites, and knowing my love for the mysterious and light play, it’s pretty obvious which ones I’m talking about. I like blurry pictures. I like […]
The weather is hot and sunny and the food portions are too big. People are relaxed, quiet and bear that sort of I-don’t-really-care-about-my-clothes-because-my-life-is-great elegance that kind of makes me hate them out of jealousy.
Oh, how I wish I had nothing to write about. Instead, I have everything. Pages, books, hours, days full of scrambled words in mismatched sentences, recurrent themes, secondary characters who come and go. When I was little, I loved to draw. I drew dresses. I decided I wanted to become a fashion designer. That didn’t turn out quite as expected. When I turned eight, I visited London for the first time, and decided I would […]
Fresh off Instagram, straight to your screens – I dragged my friend Ana back home to Lisbon with me for the long weekend and this is the result… in pictures! These are mine: And these are some I stole from Ana’s instagram:
